PHARMACEUTICAL REVIEW SERVICE
PHARMACEUTICAL REVIEW… Typically, for high cost prescription pharmaceuticals, a drug manufacturer establishes a patient assistance program to supply free or low cost drugs to patients who may not be able to otherwise afford these medications. We are a rapidly growing organization specializing in recovering uncompensated drug expenditures through pharmaceutical drug manufacturers’ patient assistance programs. Our clients are hospitals and clinics which provide healthcare services including prescription drugs to patients, some of whom may be uninsured or underinsured and therefore qualify for these patient assistance programs
Reimbursement Specialist
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB
A Reimbursement Specialist (RS) is often considered the hub of our activities. This office based role is responsible for assembling the data supplied by our hospital based staff (DRAs – Drug Recovery Analysts) into a successful application submitted to a pharmaceutical manufacturer. Follow up work involves tracking each submission through to approval and actual receipt of the replacement product.
A hospital or clinic hires our company to maximize the recovery of drugs through patient assistance programs (PAPs). Our clients do this because each PAP is different in terms of filing timeliness, eligibility, proof, etc and a dedicated team, undistracted with other duties, can achieve a significantly better net result for the client. You will be directly working with two or more DRAs, forming a team with each one.
RS is also the company’s primary reporting representative to the client. Daily and periodic summary reports are necessary to track our performance for the client as well as ourselves. Your teams are expected to build a safety net to ensure that all charity care/indigent patients are enrolled in the patient assistance programs. This relieves the patient of the worry regarding payment responsibilities and provides the client with a means of recovering expenditures which would likely ultimately remain unpaid, even after extensive collection effort.
Our company works with Personal health Information (PHI) on behalf of our hospital clients, which is protected by several laws including HIPAA. All staff members are subject to the security hiring standards of our clients which typically includes drug screening and a background check.
