PHARMACEUTICAL REVIEW  SERVICE

PHARMACEUTICAL REVIEW… Typically, for high cost prescription pharmaceuticals, a drug manufacturer  establishes a patient assistance program to supply free or low cost drugs to patients who may not be able to otherwise afford these medications.   We are a rapidly growing organization specializing in recovering uncompensated drug expenditures through pharmaceutical drug manufacturers’ patient assistance programs.  Our clients are hospitals and clinics which provide healthcare services including prescription drugs to patients, some of whom may be uninsured or underinsured and therefore qualify for these patient assistance programs

Reimbursement Specialist

 PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

A Reimbursement Specialist (RS) is often considered the hub of our activities. This office based role is responsible for assembling the data supplied by our hospital based staff (DRAs – Drug Recovery Analysts) into a successful application submitted to a pharmaceutical manufacturer. Follow up work involves tracking each submission through to approval and actual receipt of the replacement product.

A hospital or clinic hires our company to maximize the recovery of drugs through patient assistance programs (PAPs).  Our clients do this because each PAP is different in terms of filing timeliness, eligibility, proof, etc and a dedicated team, undistracted with other duties, can achieve a significantly better net result for the client.  You will be directly working with two or more DRAs, forming a team with each one.

RS is also the company’s primary reporting representative to the client.  Daily and periodic summary reports are necessary to track our performance for the client as well as ourselves. Your teams are expected to build a safety net to ensure that all charity care/indigent patients are enrolled in the patient assistance programs.  This relieves the patient of the worry regarding payment responsibilities and provides the client with a means of recovering expenditures which would likely ultimately remain unpaid, even after extensive collection effort.

Our company works with Personal health Information (PHI) on behalf of our hospital clients, which is protected by several laws including HIPAA.  All staff members are subject to the security hiring standards of our clients which typically includes drug screening and a background check.

TYPICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SUCCESSFUL SPECIALISTS

  • Has healthcare /billing experience
  • Fluent in English/conversational Spanish
  • Proficient with Excel and Word
  • Likes helping people
  • Appreciates working in an office environment & regular hours
  • Enjoys the shared responsibilities of working on a team
  • Finds verbal and written communications easy and satisfying
  • Has a sunny, outgoing disposition
  • Likes to keep things organized
  • Doesn’t leave things to the last minute

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

We are currently hiring Pharmaceutical Reimbursement Specialists at a salary of $13 per hour.  Our standard work week is 37.5 hours.  We have 8 paid holidays each year including your birthday and a personal floating holiday.  Each individual accrues 10 paid vacation/personal/sick days each year plus 1 additional day for each completed year of full time employment.

Our benefit package includes health, dental, and vision care.  Presently we support over 65% of the cost for our employees. Additional coverage may be added for family members at a cost primarily supported by the employee. A 401k plan is also available.

Rx Review Service

About Rx Review… Typically, for high cost prescription pharmaceuticals, a drug manufacturer  establishes a patient assistance program to supply free or low cost drugs to patients who may not be able to otherwise afford these medications.   We are a rapidly growing organization specializing in recovering uncompensated drug expenditures through pharmaceutical drug manufacturers’ patient assistance programs.  Our clients are hospitals and clinics which provide healthcare services including prescription drugs to patients, some of whom may be uninsured or underinsured and therefore qualify for these patient assistance programs.

                                                                        Drug Cost Recovery Analyst

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

A Drug Cost Recovery Analyst (DRA) is part patient advocate and part investigator. A hospital or clinic hires our company to maximize the recovery of drugs through patient assistance programs (PAPs) (prior experience a plus).  This is a necessity for our clients because each PAP is different in terms of filing timeliness, eligibility, proof, and other factors.  A dedicated individual, undistracted with other duties and supported by reimbursement specialists, can achieve a significantly better net result for the client.

The DRA is the company’s primary representative to the client.  By reviewing hospital data and organizing an information network with key hospital employees, the DRA creates a safety net to ensure that charity care/indigent patients are enrolled in the patient assistance programs.  This relieves the patient of the worry regarding payment responsibilities and provides the client with a means of recovering expenditures which would likely ultimately remain unpaid, even after extensive collection effort.  There are full time and part time positions available in the areas specified.  The part time position is at the present time (15-25 hours/week) but can broaden into a full time position as work load expands.

Typical Activities

  • Investigate hospital records for potential candidates receiving medications available through Patient Assistance Programs.
  • Conduct patient benefits eligibility screening Interviewing patients when necessary to ensure eligibility
  • Compiling all necessary onsite documentation including any required signatures for application process.
  • Maintaining a log and notes of all active cases
  • Following up on Patient Treatment Schedules to locate new patients and maintain medication supply for previously enrolled patients.
  • Developing a positive committed relationship with the hospital staff, doctors and nurses that is effective and engaging.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Our compensation structure is based upon a salary plus a portion of our revenue.  We earn this revenue based upon the savings we generate for our client. The starting salary is $13 per hour, during orientation period which is generally 90 days.  After successfully demonstrating capability during the 90 day orientation period, you will become eligible for commission and incentive program which adds 30-50% additional income.   Top performing full time DRAs typically earn $40-$50k per year and may cover more than one location.

Our Full time benefit package includes health, dental, and vision care.  Presently we support over 65% of the cost for our full time employees. Additional coverage may be added for family members at a cost primarily supported by the employee. A 401k plan is also available.

  • Following Client’s HIPPA compliance policies religiously and maintaining integrity of paper and electronic files. Ensure all are accurate, complete, current and accessible.  A good filing system will be your best friend.
  • Being well organized, consistent, and persistent.
